I haven’t posted anything MOM related lately.
I still have a daughter. I guess in order to still be considering a mommy blogger I should probably mention her every now and again.
Avery has cut her two front top teeth (she already has her two bottom in). Great, right? Now she can eat bigger pieces of food, blah blah blah.
Fuck that.
She fucking bit me today. No, not on the arm or leg. YOU KNOW WHERE.
I know that if she is latching correctly it shouldn’t hurt. Great. Good. Wonderful. Tell her that. I intend to nurse through her first birthday and then slowly wean her. But she better quit biting the tit that feeds her.

  1. OOOOH baby! When Jordan cut his teeth, he was apparently latching wrong, too, because I ended up with a big oozing SLICE on my right nip. He didn't so much bite me but the way he latched caused the teeth to cut into me. It was excruciating. Felt like nursing a baby with a mouthful of razor blades.

When she bites, just say a loud, stern NO and take her off immediately and she should get the idea. But if she's like most babies, she'll test you because she thinks your reaction is funny.

  2. Gwennie bit me a total of 3 times. It hurt like a sonofabitch and I wanted to, no strike that, I screamed.

  3. Piper and I weaned at almost 9 months.
Our main issue was a recurring sinus infection that I couldn't get rid of without Augmentin which she broke out in hives when I took.

Our secondary issue was me coming down with a stomach flu and my supply tanking be cause sitting up even to pump made me sick for 2 days.

Our third issue, (and truly the most minor in the grand scheme of things) was OHMYGODTHESHARPEVILTEETH that my tiny child used to clamp onto my nipple at the end of a nursing session KILLED ME!!

We did have some success with me keeping a sharp eye out for her "cues" and using my finger to unlatch her right before she tried to bite my damn nipple off. Piranha baby.

    Good luck with that!
